Zaczynamy czasy przeszłe. Dziś Past Simple i Past Continuous.
Na początek małe co nieco ;)...
Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, about last
Friday, Winnie-the-Pooh lived in a forest all by himself under the name of Sanders. (1)
...
One day when he was out walking, he came to an open place (2) in the middle of the forest, and in the middle of this place was a large oak-tree, and, from the top of the tree, there came a loud buzzing-noise. (3)
Winnie-the-Pooh sat down at the foot of the tree, put his head between his paws, and began to think. (4)
First of all he said to himself (5): That buzzing-noise means something. You don’t get a buzzing-noise like that, just buzzing and buzzing, without its meaning something. If there’s a buzzing-noise, somebody’s making a buzzing-noise, and the only reason for making a buzzing-noise that I know of is because you’re a bee.
Then he thought another long time (6), and said: ‘And the only reason for being a bee that I know of is making honey.’
And then he got up, and said (7): ‘And the only reason for making honey is so as I can eat it.’ So he began (8) to climb the tree.
He climbed and he climbed and he climbed (9), and as he climbed he sang a little song to himself. He was getting (10) rather tired by this time, so that is why he sang a Complaining Song. He was nearly there now, and if he just stood on that branch…

Mark worked for some time as a lawyer and then resigned. Winnie-the-Pooh (1), (6) 3. Do mówienia o serii wydarzeń w przeszłości, kiedy wymieniamy je w chronologicznej kolejności: I ate breakfast, got dressed and went out to work. Winnie-the-Pooh (4), (7), (9) 4. Past Simple i Past Continuous razem w zdaniu | Bardzo często oba te czasy występują w zdaniu razem. Past Simple opisuje wtedy ‘krótkie’, dokonane wydarzenie, któro miało miejsce w trakcie jakiejś ‘długiej’ niedokonanej czynności wyrażonej za pomocą Past Continuous: When I went to the room, Mark was reading a newspaper and the rest of the family were eating dinner and talking. Betty called to tell me she would be late while I was going out. When I was waiting for the bus, I saw my ex-girlfriend with her new boyfriend. Winnie-the-Pooh (2) |
